So lately I’ve been working to improve my digital painting skills, and really my digital art skills overall. So since I have much love for retro computer designs, I decided to make my own imaginary one.
The idea is that this computer is all about calculating – as to me, that seems to be something that 1980s personal computer users were obsessed with. They couldn’t see the more esoteric uses for a PC, so the best way to advertise to them is to espouse the calculation abilities of the product.
I started the drawing in Krita to nail down the perspective. I then migrated to Photoshop and used the oil painting brushes to flesh out the final illustration.
Overall it was an incredibly fun and satisfying project, and I learned much about digital painting though making it.
Looking forward to the next painting!
