Last year, I had the opportunity to work with Union Mutual on a packaging design for the Bulldog Valve Robot. They had teamed up with Econet Solutions to introduce a fantastic water shut-off “robot” to Union Mutual’s insureds.
This robot, equipped with clever water-detecting “pucks,” lets insureds place them in water-prone spots. When these pucks sense water, they shoot a signal to the robot, triggering a manual water main shutdown. It’s a game-changer, especially for folks with second homes. Which dealt with winter flooding in ’22/’23.
I came up with the initial design of the Bulldog installed on a water main, and through meetings with both the main UM team and the folks at Econet, we arrived upon this design:
It was fun to recreate the Bulldog using vector graphics, and resulted in a clean and satisfying central image.
The whole project was both fun and rewarding, and it’s extra special knowing that the packaging will catch the eye of many customers.
