Lately I’ve been practicing my portrature skills. I’ve been staying with my parents for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season, and they too have been wanting to sharpen their drawing skills.
Thus, we decided to put an portrait up on the TV screen and draw it to the best of our abilities.
I started with Walter “Sneeze” Achiu, who was the first Asian-American and native Hawaiian to play in the NFL.

What’s even cooler, is when I posted this on my Instagram, one of his descendants commented on the post letting me know he was a fan of the drawing! Small world indeed!
For my second portrait, I decided to do Philip J. Pierre, the current prime-minister of Saint Lucia. (As he was featured on the front page of Wikipedia on the day we did this challenge. In fact, both of these portraits were drawn from the images featured on the Wikipedia front page.)

I also tagged him on the Instagram post, but maybe he doesn’t find my portrait too flattering or something. Hopefully he enjoyed it!
Here’s some in-progress pics from both portraits:

I’ll certainly be making more portraits going forward. Of course, comment with any suggested portraits that you might like to see!
